Course Training Duration: 3 days (24 hrs including 4 hours of assessment)
Mode of Training: Blended Learning – E-Learning (16 hours) and face-to-face practical (1 day practical of 8 hours)
This SSG approved / SFC eligible accredited course is a mandatory training course for personnel involved in providing Occupational First Aid. It is aimed to train individuals to render first-aid treatment to the casualty during an emergency or accident in the workplace until more advanced medical assistance can be obtained.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Explain the duties and responsibilities of First Aider
- List the legal requirements under Workplace Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulations 2006 Reg.5 (2) for the workplace
- Check and pack contents of First Aid Box
- Apply first aid to accident victims in the workplace
- Manage a medical emergency at the workplace
- Manage victims of hazardous chemical exposure
- Identify common workplace accidents requiring first aid treatment
COURSE CONTENT
- Principles and Practice of First Aid
- First Aid requirements in factories and other workplaces
- First Aid Management of Wounds, bleeding, and shock
- First Aid Management of Fractures and soft tissues injuries
- Handling and transportation of the injured
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & use of AED
- First Aid Management of Breathing difficulties
- First Aid Management of the unconscious patient
- First Aid Management of Occupational eye injuries
- First Aid Management of Burn injuries
- First Aid Management of Industrial toxicology
- Safety and accident prevention
- First Aid Management of medical emergencies
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS
There are six essential skill sets required for the OFAC in order to apply first aid at the workplace. The focus is to correctly identify the patient’s condition and apply first aid immediately to save life or stabilise the situation. These skills must be demonstrated and practiced during the course.
At the end of the training, participants will be competent in the following skills:.
- Handling and transportation of an injured person
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Dealing with breathing difficulties and unconsciousness
- Managing of wounds and bleeding
- Stabilizing a fracture injury
- Management of burns
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Any individual with an interest in first aid or has been assigned a WSH-related role in the company. Must be physically fit and able to render help to another individual during an emergency.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
ESS Workplace literacy and numeracy Level 5 or above (GCE N/O Level pass or equivalent).

Learners of this course are advised to have at least ES WPLN Level 5 & above or equivalent as otherwise, the learners may find the course challenging to understand and pass the required assessments.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS AND PASSING CRITERIA
Theory Examination (40 mins)
- 20 MCQ on OFA
- 10 MCQ on CPR
- 10 MCQ on AED
Oral Examination (5 mins per trainee)
- 1 – 2 Case Studies
Practical Examination
- Bandaging (5 mins per trainee)
- CPR and proper use of AED (10 mins per trainee)
Oral Examination (5 mins per trainee)
- 1 – 2 Case Scenarios
*Passing Criteria
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the course and passing the examination, the following certificates and safety card will be issued and is valid for 2 years:
- Certificate of achievement endorsed by KBA Training Centre Pte Ltd and accredited by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
- CPR+AED certificate is accredited by National Resuscitation Council (NRC).
FUNDING ~ Applicable for Singaporean & Permanent Residents only
1. Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Grant – Up to 70% subsidy (eligibility criteria apply). Absentee Payroll (AP) approved.
*Final grant amount subject to SkillsFuture Singapore Agency (SSG) approval.
Eligibility: The general eligibility criteria are listed as follows:
- Companies are registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Supportable cost components (such as Course fees) are fully sponsored by companies
- Trainees are employees who are either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) of Singapore
- Trainees have achieved at least 75% attendance and have sat for all examinations if the course leads to certification
NETT Fee payment. Company will pay KBAT the unfunded portion of the course fee. The training grant application submitted by the company is first routed to the training organisation for endorsement, before routing to SSG. Training organisation is responsible to submit the claim to SSG upon course completion. Upon approval of the claim, the course fee funding will be disbursed to the training organisation and Absentee Payroll funding, if applicable, will be disbursed to the company.
2. SkillsFuture Credit. All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. 3. PSEA (Post-Secondary Education Account). All Singaporeans aged 30 and below can use their PSEA from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Click here for more information.
