The qualification is designed for anyone who needs to understand the principles of health and safety as part of their job. Many people take the three days NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award as a first step in a career in health and safety. It gives a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.
Course Content
On completion of this element, candidates should be able to demonstrate understanding of the content through the application of knowledge to familiar situations. In particular, they should be able to:
- Understand why health and safety needs to be managed, ensuring effective processes are in place
- Inspect the workplace, recognise common hazards, evaluating risk, recommending controls measures and assigning actions
- understand why incidents happen and how to investigate them.

Entry Requirement
Assessment and Certification
The aim of this assessment is for you to practically apply the knowledge and understanding that you have gained from studying the NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award. To do this, you will need to apply your knowledge to their workplace. Before you start the assessment, you must have completed your studies of the whole of the HSA syllabus (elements 1 to 4). The assessment must be carried out in your own workplace. Where you do not have access to a workplace, KBAT will help to make arrangements for you to carry out the assessment at a suitable premises. You will be informed of the date that the assessments will need to be submitted. Failure to submit will result in an ‘absent’.
You must achieve the pass standard 45 out of 60 (75%) in this unit in order to pass the assessment and achieve the qualification.
In-House Training

Learning Options
Full Time
Full Time training will be delivered face to face over a three days period with assessment based on workplace health and safety review.
Virtual Learning
Virtual training will be delivered via interactive instructor-led training via Zoom over a three days period with assessment based on workplace health and safety review.
