Demonstrating Perseverance is the Key to Success
After accumulating enough IMCA panel hours as well as the dive times in 3 years, I took my 1st IMCA ADS exam in August 2016 with full confidence. At the end of the day, I got 71% overall average mark and the lowest module mark of only 62%. It shocked me, at that moment as I only had 2 more months and two attempts to try again, otherwise I would need to start accumulating panel hours again.
My case is familiar to many other Trainee ADS. In order to gain enough “operation hours” to be qualified to sit the exam, I had given up many money earning opportunities (like sat diving). A big offer is ahead of me if I succeed. Facing the unaffordable failure, I took the last hope and found KBA Training’s refresher course, which is one-to-one training of one whole day. KBA Training raised my exam result to 77 overall average marks in my second attempt. Unfortunately, I failed the 2nd exam with only 1 question (1 module 68 marks). I then read through all paper work and consulted with my trainer, Alan Rhodes closely. We went over all topics that we covered on the refresher course day. At the 3rd attempt I got an overall result of 84.7%, highest two module 92 and 88 marks. I also passed the UK Legislation as the first Chinese person in the world. I got a much improved contract after the exam, 7 years of tears and sweat finally paid off.
I’d like to say that KBA Training’s refresher course does not give you a tactic in how to passing the exam, but helps you review all your career experience, occupational knowledge and real life practices; they teach you how to link them together in a systematic and efficient manner. Then with this new vision, it helps you find the clues hidden in those IMCA exam questions, and lead you to the correct answer.
I had a long conversation with the trainer on the refresher course day, and I was to learn that he had trained 1100 trainee ADS. The refresher course did not only benefited me for the IMCA exam but in all aspects of my career. Thanks to Mr. Alan Rhodes and thanks to KBA Training.”
