Diver Medic Technician (DMT) Awareness Course – Understanding Key Concepts and Skills

ABOUT THE COURSE:

Understanding the Principles of Emergency Response in Diving Operations is paramount for all personnel involved with commercial diving activities. The requirement to have trained and certified Diver Medics on the dive team is well known and implemented.

How the rest of the team and supporting members of the team understand, act and respond to such emergencies is not so clear. In recent diving incidents, it was established that key members of the team, management and project engineers were not able to support the situation suitably.

This Diver Medic Technician Awareness (DMTA) Course – Understanding Key Concepts and Skills is designed to provide offshore managers, supervisors, project engineers, onshore management support and industry personnel with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, responsibilities, and scope of a Diver Medic Technician.

Participants will gain insight into the core competencies and emergency protocols employed by certified DMTs, including casualty assessment, the application of life-saving techniques, and the use of emergency first aid equipment specific to diving operations.

While this course does not certify participants as Diver Medics, it equips personnel with the knowledge and confidence to better understand and support emergency preparedness, understand the critical role of the DMT, and contribute effectively to team safety and incident response planning.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This course is designed to enhance the understanding of offshore managers, supervisors, project engineers and onshore management support personnel regarding the roles, responsibilities, and scope of a Diver Medic Technician (DMT) in a diving operation.
