The Basic First Aid with CPR + AED Course is a comprehensive training programme that blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills. It is designed to equip participants with the confidence and ability to provide immediate and effective assistance during medical emergencies, including adult, cardiac arrest, choking, bleeding, fractures, and other common injuries.
This course emphasises the importance of timely, evidence-based interventions to enhance survival rates and minimise complications.
Course Outline
Quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (QCPR)
- Performing high-quality chest compressions and rescue breaths for adults, children, and infants.
Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
- Safe operation and application of AEDs for cardiac arrest.
Choking Management
- Recognise and relieve choking in conscious and unconscious adults, children, and infants.
Wound Management & Bleeding Control
- Techniques for controlling bleeding, applying dressings, and using tourniquets.
Fractures & Immobilisation
- Identifying fractures and applying proper splints.
Trauma Emergencies
- Recognise and provide first aid for injuries resulting from physical trauma, including fractures, sprains, dislocations, head injuries, severe bleeding, burns, and shock. Emphasis is placed on prompt assessment, stabilisation, and appropriate first aid interventions to prevent further harm and improve outcomes.

Learning Style
Each section of the book will guide you step by step through each of the essential skills required to be a competent first aider. Through the process of seeing, hearing and doing, you will develop the skills, knowledge, techniques and confidence to respond in an emergency both safely and effectively.
Entry Pre-Requisite
Participants should possess Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 or above (equivalent to GCE N/O Level pass or higher), as course materials, instructions, and assessments are conducted in English.
Disclaimer: Learners below WPLN Level 5 may find the course challenging to understand and pass the required assessments.
Assessment and Certification
Candidates will undergo practical skills assessments and a written or E-Learning test to demonstrate their proficiency.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a CPR AED certificate accredited by the relevant authorities, valid for two years from the date of completion. This certification confirms the individual’s capability to deliver vital first aid and life support assistance in accordance with national standards.
